Geocoding Project

It was tendered by the General Directorate of Geographic Information Systems of the Ministry of Environment and Urbanization in 2015. The aim of the project is to produce digital bases (Building and Road data) using True Orthophoto images, to link these produced data with address bases provided by municipalities, to give UAVT codes, and to develop software for administrations to keep the data up-to-date in the future.

Within the scope of the project, studies were carried out within the boundaries of municipalities in Yozgat, Uşak, Gümüşhane, Çorum, Adıyaman, Malatya, Batman and Nevşehir provinces.

Building and Road data were produced on True Orthophotos, and then the national address database code was given to the data produced by working with municipalities one-to-one. In this project, in which fieldwork was not carried out, the matching rate on the basis of building was completed as 80%. Field work is envisaged for the remaining data.

A web application has been developed so that municipalities can keep their address data geographically as a result of the study. With this application, municipalities have been enabled to enter new address records and perform their updating.
